Care
Your artwork deserves the best care. A special piece of art deserves not only admiration, but also the right care so that it retains its value and appeal, now and in the future. Please consider the following points:
Look after your painting well
- Preferably, hang your painting in a place where the temperature and humidity remain as constant as possible.
- Check hanging hooks. Do not use string or washing line, only wire. Use screw hooks, secured firmly in a wall plug if necessary. It is best to hang large paintings from two hanging points. We can also supply professional hanging systems. Leave the painting slightly away from the wall to allow for sufficient air circulation.
- Prevent overexposure. Use halogen spotlights at a minimum distance of 1.5 metres and ensure they are fitted with a UV filter.
- Do not clean paintings and frames with water or use impregnated dust cloths or microfibre cloths, nor a vacuum cleaner. Dust only with a soft brush or duster. Clean glass with a cleaner free from aggressive agents and never touch frames with moisture.
- Inspect your artwork regularly. Check for canvas tension, bumps, or other damage. Photograph your valuable works for your own documentation.
